Important note regarding black Neutrik XLR connectors: In 2025, Neutrik changed the outer coating on black XLR connector shells from conductive black chrome to a non-conductive KTM coating. In our testing we’ve not found any significant noise/grounding issues with the new shells. If, however, your application requires conductive shells, we are happy to fit your cables with silver XLR shells. Just send us an email with your order number immediately after placing your order.

FAQ:
Q: Doesn’t Sweetwater offer the same cables?
A: Not quite. The Pro Co cables offered by Sweetwater feature an outdated, cheaper quality Neutrik Connector. More info about why the newer XX connectors are superior can be found here. We also use connectors with gold plated contacts, which offer much better solder joints and are non susceptible to corrosion.
Q: Why do you use black connectors?
A: In our opinion, an audience pays money to see a band or artist perform and not to see silver connectors sticking out of the backs of microphones and on the stage. Black connectors are much more subtle, virtually disappear on a stage, and contribute to a clean looking stage. The argument that the black coating will wear off of the connectors is mostly invalid. We find that the areas where the coating wears off mostly are the front edges of both the male and female connectors. Both edges disappear inside either a microphone, stage box or piece of audio equipment, and are really never visible. A somewhat scratched up black connector will still be more discreet on a stage than a silver one. We also find that the black connectors take white on black Dymo labels really neatly!
Q: My cable isn’t that limp
A: Pro Co 224S will be slightly stiffer when it’s brand new. Rest assured, it will become supple and limp within a few uses.
Q: Can I use these cables in the studio?
A: Absolutely! Our studio cables are designed to have the absolute highest possible specs for super low capacitance and excellent shielding. However, our stage cables are very close behind our studio cables and in reality, you’re not going to notice any difference in sound at all unless you’re going to be running extremely long lengths. Our studio cables are made for studios and engineers who want to 100% eliminate any doubt that they could be using better cables. Our stage cables will be an excellent choice for the working musician, both on stage and in a recording environment.
